A Yonder Mountain String Band (YMSB) occurs as progressive bluegrass group from Nederland, Colorado, outside Boulder.

Formed in the fall of 1998, the band performed in the main in the Colorado - Illinois area. It expanded their touring vicinity to across the nation, & per summertime of 2003 they visited Europe.

Jeff Austin picked higher a mandolin only a few years prior to forming YMSB. He may typically break into the freeform skat during a song.

Ben Kaufmann's ability to write songs has formed a firm foundatiin on which the band's repertoire has grown steadily since 1998. Among his earliest compositions come, "The Bolton Stretch" (Elevation), "On The Run" (Elevation), & a heroic survive song "Traffic Jam" (Mtn. Tracks Vol Terzetto).

Dave Johnston forms much of the band's overall healthy by using his banjo, which essentially serves when Yon's percussion. He sings inside the on line tone. Of all a members, Dave has contributed the virtually all instrumentals, by using Adam 2nd. Jeff & Ben keep close at hand put words to everthing of their songs.

Adam Aijala's guitar playing forms a framework for numbers of of YMSB's songs. One of Adam's virtually all easily-known songs, written back in the times of Elevation, is "Left Me In A Hole."
